AS Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson would say, it is "squeaky bum time" at Canvey's Park Lane ground next Saturday.
For Gulls will go into their final game of the season, at home to an Enfield Town side with nothing but pride to play for, knowing that only a victory will guarantee them a place in the end of season play-offs.
The Islanders currently fill the fourth and final play-off position after Saturday's 3-0 win at their Essex rivals, courtesy of three goals in the closing six minutes.
But anything less than victory next weekend could see them overtaken by Bury Town, who visit an Aveley side with seemingly little to play for.
However, a draw would be enough to see of the challenge of either Brentwood Town or Edgware.
For long periods of Saturday's match at a Maldon side who have only just failed in a play-off challenge themselves, Canvey looked like having to make do with a point.
Defences had generally dominated after Jamie Ricks had put a good effort over the top early on for the hosts.
There was some good fast quality football from both teams with Canvey putting some good efforts together without being able to open their account.
But all that changed on 84 minutes when man-of-the-match Nicky Rugg, once on Maldon's books, was on hand to head home Leon Gordon's perfect cross from the right.
That seemed to release the undoubted and understandable tension in the visiting camp and Gabriel Fanibuyan made it 2-0 after 89 minutes when he shot past home keeper Darren Gould from the edge of the area.
And four minutes into injury-time the three points were made secure when Clydie Roberts saw his effort deflected past Gould for a rather flattering scoreline to the relief of visiting fans in a 203-strong crowd.
So John Batch's men will be ensured of a big crowd at Park Lane next Saturday when they will hope to see Enfield continue the lacklustre form they showed at the weekend when they crashed 3-0 at home to Waltham Forest - a result that ensured the visiting Stags' survival in the relegation fight.
And so Batch will be hoping for one last big effort as the Gulls continue their bid to climb back up the non-league pyramid they have graced with such success over the past decade.
