SOUTHEND Swifts under-16 girls have completed a magnificent treble.
Having already triumphed in their section of the national league and national cup, they performed magnificently to win the national play-off final at RAF Cosford.
They went into the finals as favourites and disposed of Manchester Mystic 76-36 in their semis.
Jennie Rodgers contributed 21 poiints, Francesca Whitby 16, Christina Gaskin 15 and Hannah Culwick 12.
The win took Swifts into the final against old rivals Haringey Angels and they won 78-58.
Rodgers was awarded the most valuable player trophy with 25 points, five rebounds and three steals, while Gaskin had 18 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals.
But this was essentially a magnificent team effort.
As last year, Swifts had all three girls' age-group teams qualifying for the play-offs.
The under-14s started with a 71-67 semi-final win over Eastside Eagles after extra-time.
Captain Katie Holland led the scorers with a huge 42-point haul, but this was a superlative team effort.
In the final they went down 68-43 to Nottingham Wildcats, but with no fewer than seven players still eligible at this level next season this team will only improve.
Holland was once again the top scorer.
The under-18s lost their semi-final 67-42 to Haringey Angels with Katie Doubleday, Emma Hart and Rebecca Brough all on eight points.
They then thrashed Wandsworth Sting 98-38 in the third place play-off with Jacqueline Jobey top-scoring on 20 points.
Jennie Rodgers contributed 15, Brough 14 and Hart 13.
