TOUGH conditions saw some modest scoring at Boyce Hill Golf Club's annual spring meeting on Sunday.
Gary Newman (4) and John Benedetto (13) triumphed on the day to take home the Bill Laws Trophy after a respectable 82 points.
The better ball Stableford competiton over 36 holes saw Ian Dawson (13) and Simon Haggett (13) home with 80 points in second place.
Leslie Wood team members Dave Smith (9) and Ian Bartley (8) showed good form in preparation for their first round match this Sunday by scoring 79 points between them.
Niall Barnett (7) and Gary Woods (16) had led the field in the morning after securing a wonderful 44 points, but they faded in the afternoon in the stiff breeze, which made conditions more difficult.
They both went home happy after collecting the top prize for the morning's 18 holes. Chris Wall won nearest the pin for day on the 160 yard 18th.
