East Essex Tri Club enjoyed another great day when 90 adults and 90 children took part in the sixth annual Rayleigh Aquathlon, held in the grounds of Sweyne Park secondary school.
The adults set the pace in the morning with five members finishing in the top eight places.
Joe Giggins held off team mate Harry Smith by five seconds to win the adult race with Taz Porter (4th), Ian George (7th) and Mathew Brown (8th) also running well.
Zena Shean took a day off from her coaching duties to continue her success at the multisport event by winning the ladies' vets section with 36th place overall.

The children's section started with the under eight-year-old boys and girls. East Essex members Harry George (3rd),William Paisley (4th) and Jack Shellito (5th) finished their first event for the club.
Hannah Mcelroy and Carys Harding, from Canvey Swimming Club finished third and fourth respectively.
Hannah Shean followed her mum's example, finishing first in the 9-10 girls, with Brogan Smith close behind in third place. Next to finish were Keira Tippet (4th), Brooke Smith (8th), Katie Steddon (9th) and Kirsten Lynch (12th).
Tomas Ambridge finished fourth, with Edward Peek 8th, Richard Dawbarn 10th, Jake Ridley 11th, and Larni Harwood 12th in their first participation of the distance.
The girls and boys 11- 12 year olds had the most participants with 45 entries.

East Essex Tri boys' results: George Knight 4th, Adam Woodcock 8th, Ben Lammin 9th, Harry Hay 14th, Mathew Kirsh 15th. Other local boy competitors: Todd Harding (Canvey Swimming Club) 11th, Daniel Lee (Canvey Swimming Club) 12th.
Ellie Jade Smith celebrated her 13th birthday with a seventh place finish in the 13-14 age group. Tom Honeysett had a brilliant race to finish in first place, with George Smith 7th, Mathew Woodcock 13th, Adam McCloud 12th, Alex Brown 14th, and Joseph Shean 16th. Ryan Haylock 12th, and Katie Thomson 4th from Canvey Swimming Club.
