CONCORD Rangers hope that their title aspirations will be boosted by the fact that tomorrow's Barkingside hosts need a mini miracle to land the crown themselves.

Canvey's Concord have been involved in a tremendous three-way fight for the championship and now know that they will take the honour with a win at Oakfield tomorrow.

The two in action tomorrow are currently three points behind Enfield, who completed their games with a 3-1 home win over Bowers and Pitsea on Wednesday.

But the surprise result came on Monday when Bowers won at Barkingside.

Concord's great win over in-form Eton Manor on Tuesday confirmed them as favourites and player-manager Danny Scopes admits: "There have been at least three or four times when we've thought we were out of it.

"But on every occasion our players have stuck to the task and something had happened to put us back in the race.

"Now it's all down to one match. If Barkingside are to be champs they'd have to beat us by a big scoreline if they are to overtake Enfield.

"But we have the best goal difference of all. We've got our club presentations tomorrow night and it's either going to be a fantastic celebration or a wake!"

Much interest will centre on whether ace Concord striker Danny Heale, who is certain to retain the Don Douglas Trophy for the league's top marksman, can establish a new record.

He is currently on 44 goals and needs two to beat Bowers and Pitsea's David Hope's 45 total in the late 1990s.

Apart from tomorrow, Heale will have the League Cup final at Bowers and Pitsea's Ground on Monday, May 5, they take on Eton Manor, to achieve a new mark.

Champions, of course, will win a place in next season's Ryman One North set-up and all three challengers have passed the necessary ground gradings.

Eton Manor, certain to finish fourth, end their tenure at Tilbury with a home game against Burnham Ramblers. Basildon United, who have generally had a season to forget, look to continue their late-term rally at home to Barking.

And Hullbridge Sports end with a Lower Road clash against a Romford side who will end the campaign in fifth position.

Other match: Stansted v Sawbridgeworth.
