FOLLOWING the successful transition to the Football League game by Chris Whelpdale at League One-bound Peterbor-ough United and Nathan Elder at Brentford, Billericay Town players continue to catch the eye of talent scouts.

Teenage striker Billy Bricknell, signed from relegation-bound Leyton in January, plays a reserve game for League One Yeovil Town next Monday and will then have a three-day trial with the West Country club.

Top-scorer Bradley Woods-Garness is another player attracting interest at a higher level, while goalkeeper Jack Buckfield had a Crystal Palace trial earlier in the campaign.

And joint manager Jason Broom admitted: "We'd never stop any player furthering himelf at a higher level as long as we think it's the right deal for the player and the club.

"Both Billy and Bradley are under 24 so that means that we'd be in line for compensation if they went.

"In Billy's case he has a year to go on his contract and with Brad his deal runs out at the end of this season and we've offered him a letter of re-engagement.

"We'd like him to stay, certainly for the start of next season, so that he can he further his career with us and hopefully, when the time is right, perhaps move onto a higher level."

Although their own play-off chances are gone, Billericay still have a big big part to play in the promotion mix.

They end their season by hosting second-placed Staines tomorrow, with the opposition knowing they must win to make certain of finishing above AFC Wimbledon.

Second spot would ensure Staines home advantage for the play-off first stage and, if they make it, the final.

Said Broom: "We owe it to other teams involved to go out and give 100 per cent - as we did against Tonbridge Angels here a fortnight ago and at Horsham last week."
