THE Stableford played at the Lords Golf and Country Club (Rayleigh) had a mixed bag of weather conditions and the scores reflected this.
But Keith Simpson managed to win the competition with 37 points ahead of Malcolm McLewin, who had 36.
It was a similar story on the second day with Barry Simpson coming into the clubhouse with 38 points ahead of Paul Godfrey and Pete Panesar who came in with 37 and 36 respectively.
Also taking place was the final of the winter fourball competition which was, for the second year running, won by the partnership of George Williamson and his father Syd George played exceedingly well and the pair won most of the holes with George finishing with a birdie on the 17th hole to take the title 2 and 1 Lords also held a charity day with the proceeds going to the Sickle Cell Anaemia charity.
The team of Phil Cherry, Darren Lowe, Steve Campbell and Lenny Locke won in the morning with 88 Stableford points.
And the afternoon session went to the team of Malcolm Mackintosh, Ken Daniels, Kevin Batch and Andy McCarthy who returned with a score of 85 to take the victory.
The money raised on the day reached £1,500
