KENT Elms had a good day when they hosted the Leigh & Westcliff LTA winter finals day and picked up a number of trophies.

Six players from the club in Aviation Way, Southend, went home with silverware, although Elms were given a run for their money by Wickford, who provided four winners.

Elms' Mandy White teamed up with her daughter Holly White (Leigh) to beat the host club's Jo Hancock and Stephanie Haddrell 7-5 6-1 to claim the ladies' doubles crown.

Kent Elms duo Pat Taylor and Terry Savage defeated club-mates Phil Stevens and Nelson Okomi 6-3 3-6 7-6 in a hard-fought men's doubles showdown.

Stevens and Haddrell made up for their earlier disappointments by combining to win the mixed doubles, beating Taylor and Lisa Gordon (Leigh).

Julie Rackham (Kent Elms) and Gordon defeated Leigh pairing Lauren Duffield and Gemma Smith 6-2 6-2 to claim the ladies' doubles plate.

Wickford's first success came in the men's doubles plate where David Goodman and Cliff Warwick defeated club captain Stevwart Clarke and Bob Chapman in an all-Wickford final.

Goodman got his second trophy of the day in the mixed doubles plate, where he partnered Tricia Goddard (Wickford) to a 6-1 6-2 victory over Leigh duo Andrew Gardiner and Jane Hunter.
