CANVEY Island have been promoted back into the Ryman Premier League after winning this afternoon's Division One North play-off with Redbridge on penalties.
The Gulls were fearing the worst when their hosts took the lead on the half hour mark through Leon Antoine.
But 10 minutes from time John Batch's side equalised with defender Colin Wall scoring a header.
Wall was then sent off for a second bookable offence but the Gulls stood firm during extra time to take the tie to penalties.
Former Billericay Town striker Billy Holland missed for Redbridge and that eventually enabled Nicky Rugg to fire home the decisive penalty.
His first effort was saved by Anthony Tucker, only for referee Simon Long to order a retake after adjudging the keeper to have moved off his line.
That handed Rugg another opportunity and he made no mistake second time around to make sure of his side's promotion.
