WOKING have reported an incident of racism during this evening’s National League match at Southend United.
A fiery finish to the game saw four players booked following a heated melee which also appeared to see a Blues fan getting involved.
But Woking’s players also reacted angrily to a section of Blues supporters in the East Stand after the final whistle at Roots Hall.
And a club statement has now revealed a Cards player suffered racial abuse.
The statement said: “Woking Football Club is aware of disturbing incidents that occurred in the closing minutes of our match at Roots Hall this evening, including but not limited to racial abuse directed at one of the club’s players.
“The club has been in contact with the relevant authorities and will provide an update in due course.
“Woking Football Club stands united against racism and discrimination of all kinds, both on and off the pitch.”
The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Southend United have been contacted for comment.
