WOKING boss Darren Sarll felt Southend United’s supporters let themselves down at Roots Hall last night.
Sarll said he saw one Blues fan try to assault one of his players before another was subjected to racism after the final whistle.
And the Woking manager was left stunned by the events.
“I witnessed for the first time in 20 years an attempted assault on a player from a supporter,” Sarll told Woking’s YouTube channel.
“There was another one reported which I didn’t see personally.
“Then when we go down the tunnel we’ve witnessed racism.
“After the game we spent quite a lot of time speaking to the police and working out what the processes are now.
“I’m not backing away from it but what I saw, I was stunned.”
And Sarll wants to those responsible to be punished.
“We will support any investigation that goes on,” said Sarll.
“We won’t take a step back on this.
“We will stand strong and with dignity.
“We will support the investigation and hopefully the individuals involved there will be some sort of prosecution.
“As a culture we all talk about standing up to it, so come on then, we will stand up to it.
“Kev (Maher) and his players were very professional as were ours.
“But this club (Southend) has been let down by some not very clever people.”
