SOUTHEND United suffered FA Cup disappointment at Woking this afternoon, losing 2-1 in a fourth round qualifying tie.
Shrimpers striker Jake Hyde cancelled out Padraig Amond’s opener for the hosts.
But a goal from substitute Ricky Korboa, eight minutes from time, saw Woking through to the first round proper.
Blues, who have now been beaten in five of their last six FA Cup games, saw Cav Miley sent an early effort over the crossbar after being teed up by a Jack Bridge free-kick.
But Woking hit back to open the scoring from a set piece of their own after just 10 minutes.
Amond was the man on target as he curled a simple 20 yard free-kick past a poorly positioned wall and goalkeeper Blondy Nna Noukey with a low shot into the bottom right hand corner of the net.
Blues replied with Hyde heading a right wing cross from Gus Scott-Morriss straight at Woking goalkeeper Craig Ross.
With play switching back to the other end of the, Cards striker Reece Greg-Cox fired a low 20 yard shot straight at Nna Noukeu before had an effort of their own with Cav Miley seeing a low, long range shot well held by Ross.
However the Shrimpers did draw back level in the 37th minute when Jack Bridge played a free-kick short into the path of Noor Husin.
Husin immediately played it back into the path of Bridge and his right wing cross was volleyed into the bottom left hand corner of the net by Hyde.
Moments later, Hyde headed a right wing cross from Scott-Morriss over the crossbar before a fine left wing cross from Noor Husin fizzed across the face of goal in the opening action of the second half.
Woking soon threatened with an excellent cross of their own with resulted in a sliding Scott-Morriss doing well to deflect James Daly’s shot wide of the left post.
Blues replied with Husin dragging a left footed shot wide of the right post from just inside the penalty area before the visitors made their first change of the afternoon in the 77th minute with Wes Fonguck replacing Bridge in midfield.
But, five minutes later, it was Woking who went in front when a break forward resulted in Josh Casey delivering a left wing-cross substitute Korboa fired home at the far post.
Blues replied with a double substitution which saw strikers Hyde and Powell make way for Rhys Murphy and Chris Wreh.
For Murphy it was his first appearance since suffering a knee injury against Yeovil Town in January but the changes were unable to spark a late fightback for the Shrimpers.
