JAKE Hyde praised Southend United's character after helping to fire the Shrimpers to a 3-0 win against Scunthorpe on Saturday.
The on loan Wrexham forward bagged a second half brace in a comfortable victory for Kevin Maher's side at Roots Hall.
And Hyde was full of praise for Blues who bounced back from last weekend's FA Cup defeat at Woking to extend their unbeaten run in the National League to six matches.
"It was great and I think it’s been coming for a while now, killing teams off like that and a 90 minute performance," said Hyde.
"It was nice, especially with it being at home.
"It gives us a lot to build on and I thought we were brilliant from start to finish.
"It was very promising and showed good character throughout the side that we can bounce back like that.
"It’s a big three points against a big side and it’s massive for us."
Hyde has now netted four goals in his last five games for Blues.
And the 32-year-old feels he is improving with every appearance.
"I’ll get fitter and fitter with every game I play and I’m starting to feel good," said Hyde.
"I’m building relationships and long may it continue. But as a team we’re going in the right direction too. I said the same a couple of weeks ago and you can feel it in the squad, in the changing room and at the training ground."
The Shrimpers now sit ninth in the National League standings and Hyde never felt troubled against an iron side who are second from bottom in the table.
"We had the beating of them the whole game and that’s rare in a football game," said Hyde.
"Teams will normally have spells and you have to weather them but it didn’t feel like that today. It felt like we were on top, on top, on top and it’s credit to all the boys.
"I thought they were all brilliant and pushing in the same direction."
Blues were also able to make their pressure tell with Wes Fonguck joining Hyde on the score-sheet.
And Hyde was happy with the chances being created, especially by Jack Bridge.
"I love dropping the ball off to Bridgey because I know something is going to happen," said Hyde.
"He’s been brilliant since coming into the team and always looks like he’s going to create something.
"He looks dangerous and the more I can give him the ball the more he’s going to get it back to me.
"Powelly did the same with a great through ball and if they’re going to keep on doing that then I’ll keep on giving them the ball."
