PETER Taylor is delighted to see former Southend United boss Chris Powell playing a prominent part in England’s bid for World Cup glory.
Powell is assistant coach within Gareth Southgate’s backroom team in Qatar.
And ex England chief Taylor, who also managed Powell during their time together at Roots Hall, is thrilled the former Blues left-back has been rewarded for his extreme professionalism.
“I was only manager for a short time at Southend but Powelly was one of the very best professionals and that’s how he’s carried on,” said Taylor.
“He was that way as a player and he’s that way as a coach too.
“He doesn’t just coach, he does it the right way and he’s been rewarded by being with the national team which I think is brilliant. “
