SOUTHEND United defender Jason Demetriou wants drawing at Bromley to be the start of another unbeaten run for the Shrimpers.
Last season, Blues’ 1-1 draw at Hayes Lane on Boxing Day was the start of a 13 game spell without a league defeat for Kevin Maher’s side.
And Demetriou is now seeking more of the same this time around.
“Last year the run started after coming here on Boxing Day,” said Demetriou.
“It was a draw and we went on to have a good run so hopefully we can do the same again this season.
“We have a lot of boys coming back now so there’s competition for places and hopefully we get on another run now.”
Sunday’s share of the spoils kept the Shrimpers sixth in the National League standings.
And Demetriou is certain Blues have what it takes to stay in the play-off positions.
“I don’t want to get carried away but you can see the gaffer has built a team of hungry young boys,” said the 35-year-old.
“It’s exciting to watch and I feel like we have enough to kick on and maintain where we are in the league.
“I do believe we’ve got enough to at least get in the play-offs so let's kick on from here and see where it takes us.”
Despite, Demetriou’s confidence the Shrimpers have now gone five league games without a win.
And the defender was left with mixed emotions following Sunday’s draw with Bromley.
“There was only one team really trying to go for it most of the time out there so it’s disappointing not to get three points,” said Demetriou.
“But at the same time I think it’s a good point on the road because it’s a tough place to come and they make it horrible for you.
“We probably did deserve three points but it was just that final bit we needed to finish off some nice football.
"But hopefully this is the start of another little run and we can finish the season strong.”
Demetriou is also keen to help make that happen and he enjoyed being brought back into the starting line-up for the first time since mid-October at Hayes Lane.
“I was flagging a bit towards the end but we train hard and if you’re not in the team you train extra hard,” said the Demetriou.
“You keep the levels up and it’s fair play to the fitness guys who keep us ready.
“You see it with other players coming back from injury so it’s a good routine. I feel OK at the moment but the next couple of days will probably be written off.
“But that’s part and parcel of it and you get used to it.
However, Demetriou will be recovered in time for Saturday’s clash with Solihull Moors at Roots Hall and is eager to pick up more points.
He added: “It’s a tough month with a lot of games but a strong month can put us in a good place.”
