SOUTHEND United midfielder Noor Husin is enjoying his new found freedom in the centre of the park.
Husin has two assists and one goal in his last five game.
And he is pleased to be playing more of a part in the final third of the pitch.
“Any way I can contribute with a goal or an assist makes me happy and hopefully I can add a few more during the rest of the season,” said Husin.
“I’ve been having a few more shots recently and can hopefully start to score a few more.
“I think I’ve got a bit more freedom now but it’s a bit of everything.
“But any way I can help, either being a bit deeper or higher up I don’t mind.
“I’m happy to do both but I’m enjoying it and hopefully we can keep this run we’re on going.”
Blues made it three matches unbeaten with a 2-1 win against Darlington in the FA Trophy at Roots Hall on Saturday.
And Husin was pleased with how the Shrimpers fought back from going behind so early in the game.
“Going a goal behind so early can be difficult but we responded and scored straight after which set us up to go on and put pressure on them,” said Husin.
“It took a while but we finally got the winner late on and the most important thing was going through and still being in the Trophy.”
The Shrimpers secured their place in the last 16 when Harry Cardwell converted an inviting cross from Husin as Kevin Maher’s side scored their first injury time goal of the season.
But Husin always felt Blues were capable of scoring late on.
“I think the belief was always there but sometimes you don’t get that bit of luck you need and for whatever reason it doesn’t go in,” said Husin.
“The best way to win is probably late on and we were all delighted.”
However, Husin has yet to double check whether or not Cardwell actually got a touch to his cross.
“I’m going to have to have a word,” laughed Husin.
“I’m sure he’s honest enough to tell me but I’m happy to contribute however I can.”
Husin will now be looking to do likewise when the Shrimpers head to Oldham Athletic this weekend.
And Husin is certain the Latics will provide another tough test.
“They’ve signed some new players and they’re looking strong,” said the midfielder.
“Every game is really tough and brings its own challenges.
“This is no different but hopefully we can keep the run going and get an important three points.”
