OLLIE Kensdale wants Southend United to start learning from their painful setbacks.
The Shrimpers suffered a frustrating 3-1 defeat against Eastleigh at Roots Hall on Saturday.
And Kensdale is desperate not to suffer a repeat performance.
"Eastleigh are the type of team who want to come here and make it ugly," said the centre-back.
"They're the most frustrating games and it was very similar to Bromley on Boxing Day.
"We've got try and figure out what we need to do to beat that.
"Solihull came here and we were so much better than them and we seem to be able to do it against the bigger teams.
"But we're coming unstuck against the lesser teams who are coming and sitting in.
"Torquay was similar and now we've had these two we need to go back to the drawing board and figure out where we can go."
The Shrimpers, who are eighth in the table, will be working on that in training this week.
And Kensdale wants Blues to start to focus on their own tactics.
"We can't get sucked into their game," said the defender.
"I don't really like to speak about the ref but I don't think he was at this best.
"That's not an excuse but from our point of view we know how good we can be, especially at home.
"When we get the crowd behind us people don't want to come here.
"You saw how we played against Wrexham and Notts County here and if we bring that here every game, I don't think anyone lives with us."
But Blues were not at their best at the weekend as Eastleigh surged into a 2-0 lead.
Striker Harry Cardwell got a goal back late on but an equaliser was not forthcoming before an error from goalkeeper Blondy Nna Noukeu gifting the visitors a third goal.
But Kensdale refused to put any blame on the on loan Stoke City shot-stopper.
"It's disappointing to concede another goal but mistakes happen," said Kensdale.
"We all make them but it's about how you bounce back and that's all of us. We're a team.
"Other people have made mistakes this season and others will during the rest of the season but it's about how you react."
Blues will therefore be looking for an improved display against York City this weekend.
And the Shrimpers players will again try not to be distracted by the club's off field issues which sees them having to pay off a large tax bill by the start of March.
"For us we do what we can and our business is on the pitch," said Kensdale.
"We've had meetings about how we deal with certain things and up to this point we've dealt with it well.
"We're right in the hunt for a play-off place and we've been one of the better teams in the league.
"Of course it's not ideal but our business is on the pitch.
"We can't impact anything else and we want to give the supporters something to be proud of on the pitch."
