ANOTHER Southend United fan has his say.
As I sit in a room full of Southend United merchandise, pictures and memories of the good times and the bad times in the club’s history, I find myself glum with the thought that come March 1 Southend United may not exist.
The club, in my blood via my father, grandfather and beyond may cease to exist in less than a month and I’ll be honest the thought of it happening fills me with dread and thoughts of just what will I do.
Not just what will I do but what will thousands of other Shrimpers do? The history books of many Shrimpers past and present will be wiped and it’s all down to one man.
The sad thing is there are still folk that look at the man as one of the best things to happen to the club and whom without him the club would already be dead.
Whilst things may be an absolute mess behind the scenes the same cannot be said when it comes to on-field issues.
Expertly guided by Kevin Maher, Darren Currie and Mark Bentley the Shrimpers are currently pushing for the play-offs despite the fact they have not been paid in a number of days.
They are a real credit to not only the club but the management team as a whole.
With only three weeks to go until the March 1 deadline, so much has yet to be answered yet Roots Hall is nothing but radio silence, which really shouldn’t come as a surprise.
Pray for Southend United football club before it’s too late.
