SOUTHEND United remain in a transfer embargo, despite the club having paid its tax bill.
In a club statement issued earlier today, the Shrimpers confirmed their outstanding debt of close to £2million had been settled with HMRC ahead of Wednesday’s hearing in the high court.
Supporters had hoped that the payment would also allow Blues to strengthen their squad as they continue to push for a place in the play-offs.
However, Echosport has been informed that the transfer restrictions are still in place.
Despite that, Blues will be allowed to extend the loan of goalkeeper Blondy Nna Noukeu from Stoke City if required.
