BASILDON Girls under 18 rugby side moved a step nearer National Cup success with a hard fought win against Worthing.
Basildon triumphed 27-17 to work their way into the semi-finals of the competition.
And coach Simon Beadle heaped praise on the performance.
“It was an outstanding game and Worthing were very tough,” said Beadle.
“They matched us score for score until the last 10 minutes when we went two tries clear but the girls had to dig very deep for this one.”
Basildon have seven Saracens players in their squad plus another from Harlequins and will face either Ding Crusaders or Truro in the semi-final.
Basildon also made the semi-finals of last season’s competition.
