SHAUN Hobson felt Southend United were ‘robbed’ in their 1-0 defeat at Wrexham on Saturday.

Wrexham’s winning goal was allowed to stand despite Paul Mullin making contact with Steve Arnold before the Blues goalkeeper pushed the ball into his own net.

And Hobson revealed Mullin even admitted he had fouled Arnold.

"We got robbed," said Hobson.

"Mullin admitted it himself but sometimes it goes your way and sometimes it doesn't.

"But he's hit Arnie's arm."

"I don’t think they created that much against us to be honest.

"Except for the robbery I don’t think they did much.

“But fair play to them, they’re top of the league for a reason and things go their way but it is disappointing.”

Blues enjoyed good spells of possession against the league leaders but were unable to turn that into clear cut chances.

And Hobson knows the Shrimpers must start to do better in front of goal.

“We need to create in the final third and get ourselves a goal,” said the centre-back.

“The two thirds before the final third we dominated them but it’s just that final pass and that final bit of quality to get a goal.”

Blues are now ninth in the table, five points behind Boreham Wood who currently occupy the final play-off place.

And Hobson feels it is now crucial the Shrimpers win at Boreham on Tuesday night.

“It’s a win we need to get,” said Hobson.

“The past few results have not gone our way but we’ve still shown our quality.

“We’ve got to put it all together now in the final stretch of the season. “
