BASILDON'S Stuart Bingham has been beaten in the last 16 of the World Snooker Championship by Mark Allen.
The 37-year-old Allen required just 15 minutes to fashion a break of 68 and turn a 12-4 overnight lead into a 13-4 win against the 2015 champion Bingham who was disappointed with his display.
Bingham told the World Snooker website: “It’s got to be one of my worst defeats here.
"Mark played really well and took his chances, but my own performance was just frustrating.
"My safety was poor and it has been a bad season.
"I lost five or six on the trot in ranking tournaments, so that’s why I’m out of the top 16.
"I’ve obviously got to try and find something.
"I’ve been working with Chris Henry for the last four months so looking forward, with my team behind me, I will come back fighting next season.”
Allen's win set up a last-eight clash against qualifier Jak Jones, who completed a stunning win over former champion Neil Robertson.
