SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher heaped praise on Cav Miley after the ever-present midfielder was voted Blues' player of the year.

Miley started all 50 of the Shrimpers matches this term.

And Maher has enjoyed his first season working with the 28-year-old.

“He’s an unbelievable footballer and an even better person with how he conducts himself,” said Maher.

“He’s played every game and only missed a few minutes towards the end at Oldham all season.

“He’s someone we identified early and signed early last summer.

“He’s been incredible and it epitomises this team.

“He always wants to train and play and is low maintenance but high output.

“You can’t have enough of those type of players and it’s the same with Shaun Hobson and Jack Bridge.”

Jack Bridge took second place in the poll with Gus Scott-Morriss third.

Miley also won goal of the season for his strike away at Torquay while goalkeeper Collin Andeng Ndi was named young player of the year.

Bridge was voted the club’s community player of the season.
