SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher has provided an update on the future of Henry Sandat and Jason Demetriou.
The duo have yet to appear for the Shrimpers during pre-season and cannot be offered new contracts due to the club’s transfer embargo.
Eighteen-year-old striker Sandat scored once in 12 appearances for Blues’ first team last season.
And Maher is keen for the forward to remain at Roots Hall.
“Henry wants to stay and we want him to stay too,” said the Blues boss.
“If we can do something we will.”
Demetriou has made 233 appearances since signing for the Shrimpers in 2016.
But the 36-year-old has yet to decide what will happen next in his career.
“JD has had a couple of days off to have a think about things,” added Maher.
