OLDHAM Athletic will be without manager David Unsworth for tomorrow's National League opener at Roots Hall.
Unsworth has not not made the journey to Essex after testing positive for Covid-19.
And assistant manager John Ebbrell will now be in charge of the Latics at Roots Hall.
A club statement issued on the club website confirmed: "David Unsworth will be absent from tomorrow’s opening National League fixture at Southend United as he recovers from Covid-19.
"The manager has not been present for training during the latter part of the week and did not travel with the team as they set off to Essex earlier today.
"The team will be taken by assistant manager John Ebbrell and coach Steve Thompson. David will remain in constant dialogue with his staff in the lead up to the fixture and during the game.
"Everyone at the club wishes the manager a quick and speedy recovery."
Unsworth has been in charge of Oldham since September 2022.
