SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher has praised the early season form of midfielder Wes Fonguck.
The 26-year-old has impressed in the opening two games of Blues’ campaign.
And Maher, whose side head to Dorking Wanderers tomorrow night, has been pleased with Fonguck’s displays in the centre of the park.
“Wes has been terrific and he can link play from midfield to attack very, very well,” said Maher.
“He gets in good space and links well with Bridgey (Jack Bridge) at times.
“He carries the ball as well which is slightly different to other midfielders we have.
“He covers the ground well and his pass to Bridgey for the goal was perfectly timed on Saturday.
“He’s been excellent but I could go right through the team and say that.”
Fonguck went off in the second half against Dagenham after suffering a dead leg.
But Maher is keeping team news close to his chest.
“I don’t want to give anything away,” he said.
