HARRY Taylor’s fine start to Southend United’s season has continued a memorable few months for the defender.
Taylor has caught the eye in the Shrimpers’ unbeaten start to the campaign.
And his determined displays have come just months after the 26-year-old became a father for the first time.
“There have been some sleepless nights but it’s been unreal,” said Taylor.
“It’s been really good and enjoyable too.”
Taylor has also enjoyed the start of Blues’ season which kicked off with a shock 4-0 win against Oldham Athletic at Roots Hall.
The Shrimpers followed that up with a 2-0 victory at Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday.
And Taylor was delighted to pick up all three points.
“We started really quickly out of the blocks,” said Taylor.
“We had a lot of pressure early on and I feel like when the game settled after that we were able to pass it around the way we wanted to.
“The high press worked as well and it was a good result.”
The victory delighted Blues’ travelling support of close to 1,200 fans.
And Taylor was quick to point out the part played by the supporters.
“It makes a massive difference and as soon as you walk out for the warm up you can hear them,” said Taylor.
“It motivates us even more to try harder and be better.
“With what was going on through the summer and is still going on it's a massive help.
“Without any fans or any noise it would be dull but it gives you energy and motivation.”
Attention now turns to tonight’s clash at Dorking Wanderers.
And Taylor is determined to keep the unbeaten going.
“It will be tough on our legs but I believe in this squad and we've got a good team spirit,” said Taylor.
“We'll try put another performance on and get the three points.”
Victory is likely to keep Blues top of the table.
But Taylor is paying little attention to the league standings at this stage.
“It gives you a lift but you can't look into it too much as it's only been two games,” said Taylor.
“We've scored six goals and had two clean sheets so it's been a perfect start really but we've got to keep the momentum going.”
