THE Shrimpers Trust have confirmed they have met with Southend United's prospective new owner Justin Rees.
Representatives from the supporters group spoke with Rees about his plans for the club during a meeting which was also attended by MP Anna Firth.
A statement from the Trust said: “The Shrimpers Trust can confirm that representatives from the organisation met with the prospective new owner of Southend United Football Club, Justin Rees, and Anna Firth MP for Southend West on Tuesday.
“We thank Justin and Anna for their time during a constructive conversation about our club’s future and all parties have committed to maintaining a dialogue over the coming days and weeks.
“We would like to take this opportunity to reassure supporters that although we have agreed not to share specific details concerning our discussion the Shrimpers Trust is continuing to represent the very best and varied interests of fans and the wider community in our attempts to safeguard Southend United and provide supporters with a greater voice in its operation.”
