SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher is looking into ways Nick Hayes can stay with the Shrimpers.
Hayes has started the last five games in goal for Blues after signing on loan from Ipswich Town.
And Maher is exploring all avenues with regards to the shot-stopper’s future.
“We’re looking at what we can do about that and the way we can about it too,” said Maher.
“Dave (Martin) was playing for us before Nick came in and it’s something I’ve got to look at.”
Blues remain under a transfer embargo and are therefore restricted in the number of players they can register.
Hayes was allowed to sign after Martin was sidelined with a hamstring injury and has kept three clean sheets in five games.
At the other end of the field, Daniel Kanu has scored four goals in four appearances since signing on loan from Charlton Athletic.
And Maher confirmed the forward will be remaining at Roots Hall for the rest of 2023.
“He’s signed until January with us,” confirmed Maher.
