THE son of Southend United legend Darryl Flahavan made a winning start to his own professional career on Saturday.
Nineteen-year-old Aaron Flahavan started in goal for Solihull Moors in their 2-1 win at Dagenham & Redbridge which was shown live on TNT Sports.
And Flahavan’s performance earned praise from assistant manager Craig Pead.
Pead told the club’s YouTube channel: “Az came in and I thought he was absolutely fantastic.
“His kicking was great, he was brave and he commanded his box.
“He communicated well and it just shows the trust and the faith the lads had in him.
“We celebrated with him in the dressing room as he came in.
“He was the last one in and it was great for him.
“It was a great performance.”
Darryl Flahavan made a combined total of 351 appearances for the Shrimpers during two spells at Roots Hall.
The former shot-stopper played a huge part in Blues’ winning back to back promotions and produced a man of the match performance in the 1-0 win against Manchester United back in 2006.
