SOUTHEND United midfielders Wes Fonguck and Oli Coker have yet to return to training.

The duo both missed Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Gateshead through injury.

And Blues boss Kevin Maher is unsure whether or not they will be fit enough to feature against Wealdstone this weekend.

“Wes tweaked his hamstring in training on Friday and hasn't been able to do any training this week yet,” said Maher.

“It's the same with Oli Coker.

“We’ll have another day to prepare on Friday and then we'll see where they are with that but we haven't been able to get them on the training ground yet.”

The Shrimpers could therefore have just two substitutes for the third game in succession.

And the club remain in discussions with the National League about adding to their squad but it remains far from straight forward.

“It’s difficult,” said Maher.

“It’s to do with injuries, when they’re coming back and how long they’re out for.

“We speak to them (National League)and put a case forward but it’s on a case by case basis.

“We are what we are at the minute.”

Blues will again be without defender Louis Lomas (groin), striker Callum Powell (knee), midfielder Cav Miley (thigh) and defender Jason Demetriou (hamstring).

Goalkeeper Collin Andeng Ndi is also unlikely to appear but he is starting to close in on a return from an ankle problem which has kept him sidelined since mid-September.

“Collin has been training,” said Maher.

“With the injury he's had it's about getting him through a bank of training and seeing when he's ready to play.

“We’ve got two subs and why we can’t have a keeper on there as well it makes no sense sometimes but it is what it is. “
