SOUTHEND United fans have their say on Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Bromley at Roots Hall.

Bottle, guts and passion for the shirt. The 12 sporting Blues shirts today worked their tails off despite the handcuffs on them from the “beloved chairman” and the National League. Cannot criticise this squad but they and the management need the takeover done and the embargo gone.

@KristofShrimper

This squad cannot be be questioned. To stand toe to toe against second in the league with 12 fit players is extraordinary. To lose your keeper after 60 minutes and get a goal back with an outfield player in net is unbelievable. Every single one of them are heroes.

@northern_shrimp

Said it so many times this season, these guys are incredible. Heroes every one of them, but Gus? Well, a legend in the making. Didn't deserve to lose that.

@Kaylalula

I’ve never loved a group of Southend players more, but I’m sick of our great club having its hands tied. How much more can we, the players and the staff take? It’s felt like an untenable situation but the players and staff continue to push through.

@JamieGreen95

Comeback was inspiring but that was an almost farcical set of circumstances to play a game in. National League should be ashamed of their inflexibility but as ever it is mainly Ron. Until it is done, we are going to get very few points despite everyone's heroic efforts.

@Moorhouse79

Heroes come in all sizes. Today it was Gus. Slammed into the wall without even a free kick he bounces back to star in goal. Noor immense in midfield, Kabongolo pushed up front to score, where he should have started in my opinion. But really, we have 12 heroes today and every week.

@YeattsMatthew

Unlucky today - but made it difficult conceding a cheap goal. Great response and can’t fault the team for their effort and passion. National League need to improve - rules need updating to be consistent with the FA who allowed a substitute keeper last week. Bizarre

@AndrewHackling

A game of fluctuating emotions. First goal deep into injury time when a shattered team needed half time, a second from an uncharacteristic mistake and an injury to DM out of nowhere. Clean sheet for Gus and a goal for BK - what could we do with a full squad??? Love. This. Team.

@SimonGDodd

To quote Shaun Hobson, it’s Southend innit. I thought we played very well for most of the game, Gus did amazing to step up the way he did. This game was one we probably deserved more from, but it’s the culmination of why the takeover needs to happen now.

Couldn't be prouder of the shift the team put in today given the circumstances, Considering they're second in the league, thought Bromley looked average at best, and for parts of that second half they looked rattled Whatever needs to happen to get the deal done...hurry up!
