GREAT Wakering Rovers boss Marcus Bowers is facing the biggest game of his managerial career at Highworth Town this weekend.

Wakering head to Highworth for an FA Vase fifth round clash.

And Bowers knows there can be no denying the importance of the occasion.

“I’m really looking forward to the game,” said Bowers.

“It’s the biggest game in my managerial career and I’m sure it’s probably the biggest game of most of the lads careers too.

“It’s a massive game for everyone from top to bottom of the club.”

Victory would take Wakering into the quarter-finals of the competition and just two games from Wembley.

But it will be far from straightforward on Saturday.

Highworth are currently seventh in the Hellenic League Premier Division and will provide stern opposition for Rovers.

“I’ve personally been to watch our opponents last weekend as we didn’t have a game so I made the trip,” said Bowers.

“They played the team who are bottom of the league and to be honest they weren’t really tested but I believe I’ve seen enough to know what to do.

“They look a good side and it will definitely be a tough place to go to.

“Any team who get to the last 16 must be treated with the utmost respect as bad sides don’t get this far.”

Wakering are currently seventh in the Essex Senior League but have games in hand on all the sides above them due to their run in the Vase.
