SOUTHEND United midfielder Noor Husin is not heaping extra significance on Saturday’s clash with York City at Roots Hall.

The two teams are separated on goal difference, just two points above the relegation zone.

But Husin sees the contest as just another game.

“We see it as the next home game,” stressed Husin.

“We’ll use that to our advantage and look to get three points.

“You can’t look too much into it all.

“You have to concentrate on the performance.

“If we do that and with the chances we create we’ll be in a good position to win the game.”

Blues, who were docked 10 points for financial irregularities earlier on in the season, will be looking to bounce back from Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Gateshead.

And Husin remains frustrated by the setback

“It was really disappointing,” said Husin.

“With the chances we created we’d like to have taken something from the game.

“But we’ll put that behind us and move forward.”

However, Husin knows the Shrimpers will need to play well in order to pick up the three points against the Minstermen.

“When we went there we played quite well in the first half but circumstances after that made it really difficult for us with two men being sent off,” said Husin, recalling the 3-0 defeat in September.

“They’re a good team and it’s another tough test but we need to start picking up points and climbing up the table.”

But Husin remains convinced the Shrimpers are moving in the right direction and he was therefore delighted to commit his future to the club until the summer of 2026.

“I’m really happy to be here for the next few years,” said Husin.

“We’re building something here and we’ve got a good group of players so hopefully that bodes well for the future.”

And Husin is thrilled a number of his team-mates have also put pen to paper on new deals.

“It’s been really unsettled for the last year or so,” said Husin.

“You didn’t know who was going to be here and who wasn’t but it helps massively knowing we’re all going to be here.”

But Husin is focusing on the here and now and remains encouraged by the creativity of Kevin Maher’s side.

“We’ve had chances and that’s the most important thing because if that keeps happening you’ll score,” said Husin.

"We want to get on a run of wins and see where that takes us but you can’t look to far ahead."
