WHITE Ensign defender Ben Sargent is expecting a close contest at FC Clacton on Tuesday night.

Ensign sit 15th in the Essex Senior League standings, one place below tomorrow evening’s opponents.

And Sargent is predicting a stern test.

“It’s going to be a tough game with only one space and three points difference between us and Clacton,” said Sargent.

“The conditions are again going to make the game challenging as well.

“I expect them to come out with a high intensity and be physical from the start.

“It’s a game that both teams will desperately want to win.”

Ensign head into the clash having drawn 2-2 at Frenford on Saturday.

But the score-line left Sargent with mixed emotions.

“It was good to pick up a point after a few consecutive losses however it does feel more like two points lost because of how dominant we were in the first half going 2-0 up,” said Sargent.

“I feel like we did enough to win the game. We just have to be more clinical with our chances.”

But Sargent remains hopeful Ensign can end the season strongly.

“My hopes for the rest of the season is to go on a good run of results and to climb up into the top half of the table,” said Sargent.

“This season so far has been a bit of a strange one.

"We had a few good cup runs but we found ourselves struggling to pick up wins in the league.

"We have a very young group of lads but we have more than enough ability in there so I have no doubt that as a group we’re capable of achieving more.”
