SOUTHEND United skipper Nathan Ralph will miss Tuesday's match at Maidenhead due to suspension.
Ralph was sent off at Oxford City on Saturday after being shown two yellow cards.
But Blues' right wing-back Gus Scott-Morriss felt the second caution, shown for dangerous play after attempting an overhead kick, was harsh.
"I think it's so harsh," said Scott-Morriss.
"He's having a goal attempt from five yards out.
"Fair play to their striker for sticking his nut in there because he's braver than some.
"But I think the ref has maybe gone from there being a bit of blood on his nose.
"It looked worse than it was and I think you have to put a bit of context behind it too."
Ralph has now been handed a one match suspension and will be available again for Saturday's match with Aldershot Town at Roots Hall.
