SOUTHEND United wing-back Gus Scott-Morriss did not hide his frustration following Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Oxford City.

The Shrimpers have now gone four games without a win.

And Scott-Morriss was again left ruing Blues’ failure to hit the back of the net.

“It's very frustrating,” said Scott-Morriss.

“For large parts of the games I felt we dominated and asked questions but the ball just won't go in the net at this time,” said Scott-Morriss.

“It's very frustrating and we're in that one bit of form where it happens.

“Every team has it and unfortunately it's our turn at the moment.”

The point kept the Shrimpers above the drop zone on goal difference.

And Scott-Morriss was keen to point towards the positives.

“We got a point and stopped the run,” said the 26-year-old.

“Even though it's against the team bottom of the league it's still a little positive because it took us seven games last year to stop the losing run.”

Scott-Morriss knows Blues must now build on the share of the spoils.

And he remains saddened by the outside perspective of Kevin Maher’s side.

“One thing that frustrates me is that people look at the table and think we're a bad side but that's not the case,” said Scott-Morriss.

“Add the 10 points we lost and with the games in hand we could've made the play-offs.

“It's really frustrating but we do need to realise we need the points.”

However, for that to happen the Shrimpers must start to find a way to score.

Blues have failed to hit the back of the net in their last four games.

And Scott-Morriss feels Southend need a bit of luck to go their way.

“You can pin point things and over look at stuff but when you look at the chances being created it really just does need that bit of luck,” said Scott-Morriss.

“It needs a deflection or own goal going our way because I think there's a lot of good things being done.

“I think everyone had a shot from six yards out and it's just mental it won't fall for us.

“The fans are frustrated and so are we but we're sticking together and that's the most important thing.

“Hopefully the gods will look down on us and give us a gift on Tuesday. “

The Shrimpers head to Maidenhead on Tuesday night.

And Scott-Morriss says the squad remain closely knit despite the recent poor run of results.

“We're a determined group and we're frustrated at the moment,” said Scott-Morriss.

“We can't fault the efforts of anyone and we're working so hard to turn the corner.

“It probably helps there's a game on Tuesday to get our teeth stuck into.”
