TOMMY Davis has labelled tonight’s local derby at Concord Rangers as the first of 12 cup finals for Billericay Town.

Billericay – who sit third in the Isthmian Premier Division table – suffered a 2-1 defeat against Horsham at New Lodge on Saturday.

And Davis now wants an immediate reaction from Gary McCann’s side.

“This is our time now to step up to the plate and show the togetherness we’ve got as a club,” said Davis.

“It’s a cliche but we’ve got 12 cup finals left and we have to smash through them one by one with full focus on tonight to put us in the best position at end of season to get promotion.”

Billericay’s hopes suffered a blow on Saturday after Horsham fought back to inflict a third defeat in succession on their hosts.

And Davis was disappointed by the defeat.

“The game at the weekend was frustrating because taking the lead in games and not being able to capitalise on it leaves a sour taste,” said the former Southend United defender.

“However there is no time to dwell on it as the best thing for us right now is that we’ve got another game tonight to put things right and get back to winning ways.

“We have the bit between our teeth and are itching to put things right against Concord.”

Concord will also be desperate for points as they continue their bid to beat the drop.

The Beach Boys sit 20th in the table, seven points behind Margate who sit just above the drop zone with six games in hand.

And Davis knows Concord will also be giving their all to pick up three points.

“I’m expecting Concord to leave everything on the pitch against us and do whatever they can to cause an upset,” said Davis.

“But we are in the full mindset of getting the three points and start building some momentum going into the business end of the season.”

And Davis is also relishing his role in helping that happen after making the move to Town from Aveley in January.

“I’m really enjoying my time at Billericay,” said Davis.

“It’s a great club filled up from top to bottom with good people with the club at heart.

“I’ve clicked with all the boys since I came in which is always helpful and I’m playing regular football now which is the biggest part why I am enjoying it so much here .

“The gaffer and management staff are great to work for and have made it a professional environment to work in with high standards to meet on and off the pitch .

“We know our targets in house and what is expected of us to succeed this season.”
