A BRACE from Harrison Day saw Concord Rangers beat Billericay Town 2-1 at the Aspect Arena tonight.

The victory moved the 20th placed Beach Boys to within four points of Margate, who sit just above the Isthmian Premier Division drop zone, with five games in hand.

And Concord's goalscoring hero Day was delighted with the win.

"The game was as expected," said Day.

"It was a physical game with first and second balls being crucial.

"But we had the heart and desire to push through when it mattered and we stuck together as a team.

"For me personally it’s great to get another two goals to help the team and get closer to staying up this season.

"That was a big three points but attention turns to Saturday's game away to Folkestone where we look to get another win away from home."

Day fired Concord in front against Billericay after just five minutes before Frankie Merrifield equalised four minutes later for Town.

However, Day struck again six minutes from time to secure victory for the Beach Boys and condemn third placed Billericay to a fourth straight defeat.
