SOUTHEND United head coach Kevin Maher was impressed but not surprised with how Jason Demetriou performed on his return to the Shrimpers starting line-up.
Demetriou replaced the injured Gus Scott-Morriss at right wing-back against Maidenhead United on Tuesday night.
And Maher was delighted with the 36-year-old’s display.
“The nous and know how he has and the energy as well is fantastic,” said Maher.
“He didn’t stop and that’s without having started since October/November time.
“To come in and do that was unbelievable but it wasn’t a surprise.”
