CONCORD Rangers right back Joe Halsey insists there can be no hiding the importance of Tuesday night's clash with Cheshunt.

The Beach Boys sit 20th in the Isthmian Premier standings, one place and one point behind tomorrow's opponents with four games in hand.

And Halsey knows a win for Concord would be massive in their ongoing bid to beat the drop.

“There’s no hiding the fact it’s a huge game for us,” said Halsey.

“I wouldn’t say it makes or breaks our season as, as you’ve seen already all over the league, results can come unexpectedly.

“But three points against one of the rivals to stay up would be huge going forwards.”

After a poor start to the season, Concord have shown signs of improvements to give themselves a chance of staying up.

And Halsey is confident the Beach Boys can work their way out of the bottom four.

“I think the buzz around the changing room at the minute shows how confident we are as a group in staying up, as long as we keep buying into what the gaffer wants from us,” said Halsey.

“I think it’s in our hands especially with the games in hand we have but we know no one is going to hand us three points.”

Concord’s hopes have been hindered by a number of postponements which is likely to leave them with a backlog of fixtures.

Tuesday night's match has been switched from the Aspect Arena to Aveley’s Parkside Stadium to ensure it will definitely go ahead due to their artificial pitch.

And Halsey cannot wait to get back in action.

“Everyone’s really excited to get back on the pitch in a competitive game especially as our game on Saturday was rained off,” said the former Luton Town youngster.

“We got a good session in on Saturday working towards Tuesday and everyone’s really looking forward to it.

“We know it’s going to be a battle out there because of the position we both are in the table.

“It’s going to be a physical and mental challenge but it’s nights like these that you play for.”

Elsewhere tomorrow, 15th placed Canvey Island host Lewes who are 10th.

The two teams drew 2-2 on Saturday with three of the four goals being scored in stoppage time.
