ECHOSPORT talks to Wealdstone fan Paul Franklin ahead of tonight's match with Southend United.

How have things been going since David Noble was appointed as manager towards the end of January?

"There have been a mixed bag of results that maybe would have been expected.

"The new management team have had to face some of the tougher opposition from higher up the table early on.

"This coupled with postponements causing a fixture backlog and the loss of a couple of key players has meant that their start has probably been compromised.

"They managed to get a morale boosting win against York last time out in a lower table six pointer, so it’s hoped that will be one of many from now until the end of the season.

Has the way the team play changed much?

"Not hugely, there is an emphasis on getting the ball in to the front players especially the centre forward a little quicker, rather than building through the thirds.

"The favoured formation is the familiar 3-2-4-1 adopted by the previous management although there was a change to a traditional back four against York.

What are the hopes for the rest of the season now?

"Survival in the National League and hopefully an appearance under the Wembley Arch on May 11th in the FA Trophy final."

Who have been your best players this season?

"The most consistent players we have had are Sam Bowen, on loan from Newport County, and Jayden Mundle Smith.

"The most exciting one to watch on his day is Tarryn Aalarakhia and recently the goalkeeper, Marcus Dewhurst, has kept us in games with some important stops."

What’s the team news for tonight?

"I believe that there is a full squad to choose from.

"The only doubt maybe the Wycombe Wanderers loanee, Jack Young, as he was missing on Saturday. I foresee an unchanged team from the win at York last Saturday."
