SOUTHEND United head coach Kevin Maher is keeping tabs on top goalscorer Harry Cardwell ahead of this weekend’s match with Dagenham & Redbridge.
Cardwell missed Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Wealdstone due to a slight hamstring issue.
But Maher will have to wait and see if the striker is fit enough to feature on Saturday.
“We trained today and we’ll see how he is going into the weekend,” said Maher.
“Hopefully that’s not a problem.”
However, Maher again expects to be without defender Ollie Kensdale who has a fractured cheekbone.
“There isn’t much of an update on Ollie,” said Maher.
“He hasn’t trained yet.”
Defender Harry Taylor (hamstring) and striker Callum Powell (knee) are both still sidelined but Gus Scott-Morriss should be fine to play despite a knee problem.
