SOUTHEND United midfielder Oli Coker insists tomorrow’s match with Dagenham & Redbridge matters more than his birthday!
Coker turns 21 on Saturday and wants to mark the occasion with all three points at Roots Hall.
“It doesn’t matter it’s my birthday, it’s just about getting the three points and hopefully we do,” said Coker.
“Any team we face in this league we think we can win and we want to get another good result.”
Blues head into the game unbeaten in their last six outings after a late 1-1 draw with Wealdstone on Tuesday night.
Coker impressed after coming on at half-time for Wes Fonguck.
And he is pleased to be back in action after recovering from a thigh problem.
“It was really good to be back out there,” said Coker.
“I had a couple of weeks out and was chucked back in a little bit.
“It blew up again and when I kept on coming back I kept feeling the same thing, so I couldn’t really risk it.
“It’s one of those things and you’re going to get injuries here and there, but I’m delighted to be back.
“I was a bit rusty here and there, but I felt like I got into it after a while.
“I thought I did alright and can hopefully look to build on that now.”
