SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher is keen to for the Shrimpers to keep on producing their own players.
Collin Andeng Ndi, Jack Bridge, Oli Coker and Henry Sandat – who all featured for Blues at youth level – again look set to part of the club’s first team squad for Saturday’s match with Dagenham & Redbridge.
And Maher wants that that trend to continue in the future.
“I worked in the academy and we’ve got a great catchment area for footballers who can come through,” said Maher.
“I know it’s something the consortium are big on going forward and it’s not lost on everyone at the club just how important it is for us.
“My son was in the academy last year and it’s hugely important.”
Blues currently operate an under 19 side but do not run sides for any other age-groups at this time.
