DAGENHAM & Redbridge boss Ben Strevens will be up against a familiar face at Southend United tomorrow.
Strevens managed influential Blues midfielder Cav Miley during his spell in charge of Eastleigh.
And he also spoke with Shrimpers boss Kevin Maher before Miley made the switch to Roots Hall in the summer of 2022.
“I spoke to Ben about him when his name came up and we were doing our due diligence” said Maher.
“He said it was a no brainer and he's someone who knows his players.”
Strevens is now trying to help push 13th placed Dagenham up the National League table.
And Maher feels Strevens has Daggers moving in the right direction.
"He’s a brilliant guy and him and his staff have done a great job," said Maher.
"It’s not been easy going in there and they’ve lost a lot of players.
"There was a lot of change going on but they’ve stuck at it and it’s what happens when you believe in what you’re doing.
"It goes without saying he’s the right man for the job.
"From the outside looking in people don’t see the stuff that goes on behind the scenes.
"It takes time to get it to where you want it to be and that’s bearing fruit for them now.
