SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher opted not to include Wes Fonguck in his squad for Saturday's 1-1 draw with Dagenham & Redbridge.
Fonguck had started 13 of Blues' last 15 games.
But the midfielder did not make the matchday squad against the Daggers.
Shrimpers boss Kevin Maher explained: "It was just because we have so many options.
"Wes has done brilliantly this season but I wanted two strikers on the bench and Deon (Woodman) because we’re short of defenders.
"I know Woody (Jack Wood) didn’t get on today but he’s produced when he’s come on recently."
