Great Wakering one round from Wembley after FA Vase win

Harry Talbot bagged a second half brace to send Wakering into the final four of the competition.

And the winger insists he will never forget his part in a memorable victory which was played in front of a crowd of close to 700 fans.

“Obviously I’m very pleased,” said Talbot.

“To score two in front of that crowd, on this occasion, will stick with me forever.

“It was a tough game given the occasion and what was on the line.

“We probably weren’t at our best but we still dominated most aspects of the game and had the best chances.”

Talbot fired Wakering in front after 65 minutes before sealing the win 10 minutes from time with a well-taken penalty.

And Talbot could not contain his delight at the final whistle.

“It means so much to all of us,” said Talbot.

“Personally to get to Wembley would be a dream come true and to do it with this group would even more.

“I can’t wait for the semi-final.

“It’s another two fixtures to cram in to our hectic schedule but it doesn’t get better than this competition at this level.”

The win also capped a memorable week for Talbot who was voted the Echo’s non-league player of the month for February.

“I was chuffed with that,” said Talbot.

“It’s a great achievement but I have the team, management and club to thank, as without them it wouldn’t be possible.”
