DORKING Wanderers boss Marc White admitted Southend United were worthy winners at Roots Hall tonight.
But he was disappointed with the officiating which led to the Shrimpers taking the lead.
Gus Scott-Morriss curled home a brilliant free-kick to put Blues in front midway through the first half.
However, White was adamant referee Aji Ajibola missed a foul on one his players before penalising Jimmy Muitt for his challenge on Harry Cardwell.
“The first goal was so disappointing from the official because he’s missed an absolute massive push which I’m really disappointed with,” White told the club’s Twitter account.
“He’s got the linesman that side and it was a really big push.
“It’s a foul so we should never have conceded from that situation.
“Jimmy brought him down after that but it was a really big mistake.”
Blues made the most of the situation with Scott-Morriss scoring from 25 yards.
And that led to the Shrimpers taking control of the match.
“In the second half Southend were the better side,” said White.
“They looked sharper and more agile.
“We didn’t know whether to stick or twist and we probably chased it too much in the first 15 of the second half.
“We gassed a little bit after that and Southend do what they do.
“Kev (Maher) made some good changes and they got on the ball.”
And White had no complaints about Blues extending their lead.
“They deserved a goal shortly before they got their second goal,” said White.
“On the balance of play Southend deserved to win.
“I wouldn’t say they deserved to win by a country mile and there wasn’t much in the game at all but it was one of those nights.”
But White feels there is no disgrace in losing to the Shrimpers.
“I know this league really well now and Southend are a top seven team all day long in terms of their structure, the way they’re managed and coached and the individuals they’ve got,” said White.
“Today they shaded it too.”
