RYAN Peniston has beaten on his return to action in qualifying for the French Open.
The Great Wakering ace had been sidelined for the past three months with a serious ankle injury.
But he was back on court in Paris today and produced a spirited display against number two seed JJ Wolf before being beaten in three sets.
Peniston lost the first set 6-1 but fought back well to win the second 7-5 on a tie-break.
Wolf triumphed 6-2 in the decider but Peniston will have taken heart from his gritty performance after returning from an extended spell on the sidelines.
